Banks of Marble

By Pete Seeger

[Verse]
G D7 G
I've traveled 'round this country
C G
From shore to shining shore
D7 G
It really made me wonder
C D G
The things I heard and saw.

[Verse]
G D7 G
I saw the weary farmer
C G
A-plowing sod and loam
D7 G
I heard the auction hammer
C D G
A-knocking down his home

[Chorus]
G
But the banks are made of marble
D G
With a guard at every door
G
And the vaults are stuffed with silver
D G
That the farmer sweated for

[Verse]
G D7 G
I saw the seaman standing
C G
Idly by the shore
D7 G
I heard the bosses saying
C D G
"Got no work for you no more."

[Chorus]
G
But the banks are made of marble
D G
With a guard at every door
G
And the vaults are stuffed with silver
D G
That the seamen sweated for

[Verse]
G D7 G
I saw the weary miner
C G
Scrubbing coal dust from his back
D7 G
I heard his children crying
C D G
Got no coal to heat the shack

[Chorus]
G
But the banks are made of marble
D G
With a guard at every door
G
And the vaults are stuffed with silver
D G
That the miner sweated for

[Verse]
G D7 G
I've seen my brothers working
C G
Throughout this mighty land
D7 G
I prayed we'd get together
C D G
And together make a stand

[Chorus]
G
Then we might own those banks of marble
D G
With a guard at every door
G
And we'd share those vaults of silver
D G
That we have sweated for

Barret's Privateers

By Stan Rogers

[Verse 1]
C * G C
Oh, the year was seventeen seventy-eight
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
A letter of marque came from the king
* * G F
To the scummiest vessel I'd ever seen

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 2]
C * G C
Well, Elcid Barrett cried the town
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
For twenty brave men, all fishermen, who
* * G F
Would make for him the Antelope's crew

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 3]
C * G C
The Antelope sloop was a sickening sight
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
She'd a list to the port and her sails in rags
* * G F
And the cook in the scuppers with the staggers and jags

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 4]
C * G C
On the King's birth-day we put to sea
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
We were ninety-one days to Mon-tego Bay
* * G F
Pumping like madmen all the way

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 5]
C * G C
On the ninety-sixth day we sailed a-gain
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
When a bloody great Yankee hove in sight
* * G F
With our cracked four-pounders, we made to fight

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 6]
C * G C
The Yankee lay low down with gold
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
She was broad and fat and loose in stays
* * G F
But to catch her took the Antelope two whole days

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 7]
C * G C
Then at length we stood two cables a-way
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
Our cracked four-pounders made an awful din
* * G F
But with one fat ball the Yank stove us in

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 8]
C * G C
The Antelope shook and pitched on her side
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
Barrett was smashed like a bowl of eggs
* * G F
And the main-truck carried off both me legs

[Chorus]
G C * F
God damn them all, I was told,
C F C F
We'd cruise the seas for A-merican gold
G C G F (*)
We'd fire no guns, shed no tears
C F C F
But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier
* * G C
The last of Barrett's Priva-teers

[Verse 9]
C * G C
So here I lay in me twenty-third year
* F C G (*)
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
C G C *
It's been six years since we sailed a-way
* * G F
And I just made Halifax yester-day

[Chorus]

We'd fire no guns, shed no tears

Bear in the Darkness

By Grayson Harlow

Bear in the Darkness

She pulls a scarf over wind-battered hair

And the foxfires glow in the midst of the gloom

Coats of fur in the starlight loom, and shadows of whispers and prayers

Sought refuge from rain and the dark twisting air

A candle illumines the glass of the windowpanes

The lightning, it glances across hazel eyes

She prowls the night, disguised, but the bear in the darkness remains

She wanders the meadows through wind and through rain

Moonlight, it broke through the storm and made silver a shore carved with caves

Where seabirds, they nest and the ocean, it rests beneath rock-hewn waves

And she sits beside me, the wide water turns to blue mist in the dawn

I sing while she strums of the dark autumn nights, forgotten, forgone

And when I am with her, the sunbeams do part the gray curtains of rain

And when our lips touch I can feel the great rush of the moon as it wanes

And time passes slowly yet all in an instant the hourglass fades

How brief is the night when we lie side by side neath the starlight parade

She pulls a scarf over rain-dampened hair

Her eyes calm the tempest, the eyes of the bear

Hearts that are broken you cannot trade as you can tokens away

And souls that are crushed can never be rushed as the dusk from the day

Yet still I hang onto the dream as the dewdrop does gleam on the web

Or the shearwaters ride on the swell of the tide that now heralds the ebb

Big Rock Candy Mountain

By Harry McClintock

[Intro]
C G C

[Verse 1]
C G C
One evening as the sun went down and the jungle fire was burning
C G C
Down the track came a hobo hiking and he said, "Boys, I'm not turning"
F C F C F C G
I'm headed for a land that's far away besides the crystal fountains
C G C
So come with me, we'll go and see the Big Rock Candy Mountains

[Verse 2]
C F C
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains there's a land that's fair and bright,
F C F G
where the handouts grow on bushes and you sleep out every night
C F C
Where the boxcars all are empty and the sun shines every day
F C F C F C
on the birds and the bees and the cigarette trees, the lemonade springs where the
F C G C
bluebird sings in the Big Rock Candy Mountains

[Verse 3]
C F C
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains all the cops have wooden legs,
F C F G
and the bulldogs all have rubber teeth and the hens lay soft-boiled eggs
C F C
The farmers' trees are full of fruit and the barns are full of hay
F C F C F C
Oh, I'm bound to go where there ain't no snow, where the rain don't fall,
F C G C
the wind don't blow in the Big Rock Candy Mountains

[Verse 4]
C F C
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains you never change your socks,
F C F G
and the little streams of alcohol come a trickling down the rocks
C F C
The brakemen have to tip their hats and the railroad bulls are blind
F C F C F C
There's a lake of stew and of whiskey too, you can paddle all around 'em in a
F C G C
big canoe in the Big Rock Candy Mountains

[Verse 5]
C F C
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains the jails are made of tin,
F C F G
and you can walk right out again as soon as you are in
C F C
There ain't no short-handled shovels, no axes, saws or picks
F C F C
I'm a gonna stay where you sleep all day, where they
F C F C
hung the jerk that invented work
G C
in the Big Rock Candy Mountains

I'll see you all this comin' fall in the Big Rock Candy Mountains

Bound & Determined

By Nick Shoulders

I am so weary

I’m as glum as I can be

All y’all have lost it

I meet your madness with pity
G G7
I Don’t blame you for being scared
G
But its the wrong direction that your teeth are bared

C
We’re fully busted

We know the ship has run aground

The things you trusted

They burned the farm and moved to town
G G7
And though I might eat all of my steaks rare
G
I never sold my soul to a billionaire

[Chorus]
C G C
I keep the door
C G C C7
Open for you
F
Bound and determined, oh
C G C
You can’t lie to me
G
Bound and determined, oh
C G7
To ruin everything

[Verse 2]
C
You say you’re country

You lay a claim unto the soil
C
If you were country

You’d save your land from being spoiled
G
Do you drink water?
G7
Do you breathe air?
G
I think if you were really country you would fucking care

C
I’d be just like you

If I were fed the things you’re fed

I’m just as frightened
C
We’re off the rails

We’re in the red
G
You’ve got opinions
G7
But your proof, it lacks
G
And only one of us is dealing in alternative facts

[Chorus]
C G C
I keep the door
C G C C7
Open for you
F
Bound and determined, oh
C G C
You can’t lie to me
G
Bound and determined, oh
C G7
To ruin everything

[Verse 3]
C
Do you love freedom?

Or security in dreams

Is life worth living if there’s lead in the last stream?
G G7
To a glutton what’s allegiance worth
G
If the meek like me are to inherit the earth?

C
It's not oppression

To ask for basic decency
C
You’ll learn your lesson

While you’re repeating history
G
And if this song gets me shot

At least my voice, it wasn’t silent
C
You’ll forget me not

[Chorus]
C G C
I keep the door
C G C C7
Open for you
F
Bound and determined, oh
C G C
You can’t lie to me
G
Bound and determined, oh
C
To ruin everything
G C
To ruin everything
G C
To ruin everything

N.C.
You'll ruin everything

Circe

By Grayson Harlow

She floats atop the water

But her feet don’t pierce the waves

The deep blue mirror beneath her

Clear as the night, cold as the grave

And above her shines a halo

Gilded in the sweltering sun

She tips a silvery chalice

From its rim the tears do run

For when the silver moon was younger

And when she wandered in twilight

Where the shore was bent like a hunter’s bow

Where the razorbills alight

There were ripples in the ocean

And there stars upon the sky

Was a stranger swimming the coldest water?

She was shivering at the sight

And who is there?

Who is the swimmer in the sea?

Oh who is there?

And will nobody swim to me?

And in the morning in the garden,

When her love was by her side

What made him pull the sweetest rose

Changed the color in his eye

So she went up on the mountain,

In the shades of reverie

She tapped the venom of wicked roots

Beneath the poison tree

And who is there?

And who shall die beneath the sea

Oh who is there?

And will nobody die for me?

And when the shadows turned to needles

In the gold midsummer sun

The labyrinth of tangled words

How she wove and how she spun

And as the poison streamed beneath her

And the howling shapes appeared

The stranger sank in the coldest water

As the ocean filled with tears

And who is there?

And who is sinking in the sea?

Oh who is there?

And will nobody sink to me?

But as she glided o’er the ocean

With an empty chalice held

She spied her love on the darkened shore

As the tide began to swell

With his eyes fixed on the swimmer

With her gills in deepest blue

He threw himself in the coldest water

As his fins the waters hewed

And who is there?

Who are these creatures in the sea?

Who is there?

And will nobody swim to me?

Cleopatra

By The Lumineers

[Intro]

[Verse]
G
I was Cleopatra, I was young and an actress
D
When you knelt by my mattress, and asked for my hand
G
But I was sad you asked it, as I laid in a black dress

Look, now, at the potter whose wheel is spinning 'round

Foundling Bird

By Grayson Harlow

Foundling Bird

The sun is always low here, we will walk in mountain's shade

With foreign stars above

And crooked footsteps falling in a haunted glade

What do you know of love?

Runes and ancient words

Whispered by the foundling bird

Your skin is growing greener, your sweet voice has turned to gold

Still I don’t know your name

Take your woolen cloak now, sing with me, join the fold

And sacred tongues of flame

Will yet rest, unheard,

Gathered ‘round the foundling bird

Will you be my chapel? I will be your chandelier,

I hear a hunter’s horn,

Turn me a rosebush, scarlet petals to appear

And cover me with thorns

Have I grown absurd?

Am I still your foundling bird?

Will you yet forsake me, now that our journey’s done?

I’ll never forsake you,

And till our dreams are drowning underneath a sinking sun

A world that’s steeped in dew

The creatures that have stirred

The echoes of the foundling bird

Frozen Ocean

By Grayson Harlow

Winter’s child, from her garden exiled

Lost in shadows blue

Face wind-battered, robe torn and tattered

So long the evenings grew

Lost in pondering, across the tundra wandering,

In moonlight her footsteps stirred

In dusk so fleeting, broken hearts beating,

Quivering like frightened birds

Drops now of scarlet flow

Through her fingers upon the snow

“Who in this deep sacred moonlight does go

With the eyes of a snowy owl perching?

And here in these vast

bitter countries of snow

Does this poor weary traveler go searching?

And what are you looking for?”

White as plaster, coats of alabaster

All bounding o’er the snow

Eyes of starlight searching the far night

For bleeding hearts all aglow

Are these hearts then

doomed to break apart when

These lungs draw their final breath?

Hold them near, it’s only your warm spirit

That saves from the frost of death

Knowing not who they are,

Chasing the wandering star

“One was a child lost, alone upon the earth

The second was a poet and a lover

The first sleeps in silence

by the blazing of the hearth

With silver threads I took and bound the other

“For whose fragile heart

did you journey out and seek,

And traverse o’er the snowy frozen ocean?

Or is there some secret

that you alone can keep?

And what spurs you onward but devotion?

What are you looking for?”

What nameless face do I see when I’m asleep

I cannot say

Ten thousand brushstrokes across the canvas

Yet all is gray

And who shall guide me across the icy sea?

What wandering star?

Does this enchantress

my heart keep from the cold

night black as tar?

Oooooooo…

Helplessness Blues

By Fleet Foxes

[Verse 1]
E
I was raised up believing
A
I was somehow unique
B
Like a snowflake distinct among snowflakes
A E
Unique in each way you can see

[Verse 2]
E
And now after some thinking
A
I'd say I'd rather be
B
A functioning cog in some great machinery
A E
Serving something beyond me

[Chorus]
E A
But I don't, I don't know what that will be
E A E
I'll get back to you someday soon you will see

[Verse 3]
E
What's my name, what's my station
A
Oh just tell me what I should do
B
I don't need to be kind to the armies of night
A E
That would do such injustice to you

[Verse 4]
E
Or bow down and be grateful
A
And say "Sure take all that you see"
B
To the men who move only in dimly-lit halls
A E
And determine my future for me

And I don't, I don't know who to believe
E A E
I'll get back to you someday soon you will see

[Verse 6]
E
If I know only one thing
A
It's that every thing that I see
B
Of the world outside is so inconceivable
A E
Often I barely can speak

Yeah I'm tongue tied and dizzy
A
And I can't keep it to myself
B
What good is it to sing helplessness blues?

Why should I wait for anyone else?

I'll come back to you someday soon myself

Oracle of Mercy

By Grayson Harlow

Oracle of Mercy

O my love, You spin your silk so fine

O my love, Beneath some darkened shrine

Do you recall, the days beneath the sun?

Before the walls in cracks of thunder came undone

The dust above the road sank

As the smoke obscured my sight

Are we so forgotten

That the ghosts fear not the light?

Carve an ancient circle,

Hear the ravens shriek and shout

Oracle of mercy,

Cast away my fear and doubt

Drops of rain, above these catacombs

Shapes arcane, incantations, dusty tomes

Are lives so brief, so full of hunger, full of fear?

Days of grief, nights of wonder, passing years

The creaking of the water wheel

The tearing of the silk

I’ll hold you as the dayspring turns the

Clay-cold sea to milk

If not for those weeping eyes

To light the lamps ahead

Our lives would be forgotten,

Endless paths, more tears to shed

Set for me a table,

Pour to me a glass of wine

Dark as ink or sable deep

While needle-point stars shine

Now arise, Fear not the ghostly dawn

Rosy skies Hang over Babylon

Salt Meadow Hay

By Grayson Harlow

Out in the creeks where the marsh hens are calling

And the cordgrasses sway and they bend

There’s a light o’er the sea though the sun it is falling

Where the whimbrels all soar on the wind

I’ve lived such a good life, I’ve done what was asked me,

I’ve wandered the salt meadow hay

And now it does seem that my years have rushed past me

As my days like the sand slip away

And if only I could I would run to the forest,

I’d climb a persimmon tree,

And like some opossum I’d sleep in the darkness,

And who would remember me?

Such dreams, such dreams, such treacherous visions

What specters take root in your head?

An old devil cat, as black as a raven,

Crept over the foot of your bed

Its eyes were like flames, and how silver its whiskers,

And how did it get through the door?

In what strange tongue in your ear did it whisper?

And slipped through your keyhole once more

And then did the garden fill with wild swine,

To trample your cotton and corn?

And who is to blame when the golden light shines,

And the devil retreats in the morn?

Up in the trees were cawing the ravens,

My hands to my feet they were bound,

To face the dark weary depths of the Lynnhaven,

To be tossed in the tide or to drown

When shall I return to my home by the water

And breathe in the brimstone air

While marsh hens among the bent reeds all chatter,

By Grace, who shall answer my prayer?

Eight years, eight years, and the stones seem to harden

My hair grows thin and gray,

At last I will tend to my rosemary garden

By the marshes of salt meadow hay

Solidarity Forever

By Pete Seeger

[Verse 1]
G
When the union's inspiration through the workers' blood shall run,
C G D7
There can be no power greater anywhere beneath the sun;
G B7 Em
Yet what force on earth is weaker than the feeble strength of one,
Am D7 G
But the union makes us strong.

[Chorus]
G
Solidarity forever,
C G
Solidarity forever,
G B7 Em
Solidarity forever,
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Verse 2]
G
Is there aught we hold in common with the greedy parasite,
C G D7
Who would lash us into serfdom and would crush us with his might?
G B7 Em
Is there anything left to us but to organize and fight?
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Chorus]
G
Solidarity forever,
C G
Solidarity forever,
G B7 Em
Solidarity forever,
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Verse 3]
G
It is we who plowed the prairies; built the cities where they trade;
C G D7
Dug the mines and built the workshops, endless miles of railroad laid;
G B7 Em
Now we stand outcast and starving midst the wonders we have made;
Am D7 G
But the union makes us strong.

[Chorus]
G
Solidarity forever,
C G
Solidarity forever,
G B7 Em
Solidarity forever,
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Verse 4]
G
All the world that's owned by idle drones is ours and ours alone.
C G D7
We have laid the wide foundations; built it skyward stone by stone.
G B7 Em
It is ours, not to slave in, but to master and to own.
Am D7 G
While the union makes us strong.

[Chorus]
G
Solidarity forever,
C G
Solidarity forever,
G B7 Em
Solidarity forever,
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Verse 5]
G
They have taken untold millions that they never toiled to earn,
C G D7
But without our brain and muscle not a single wheel can turn.
G B7 Em
We can break their haughty power, gain our freedom when we learn
Am D7 G
That the union makes us strong.

[Chorus]
G
Solidarity forever,
C G
Solidarity forever,
G B7 Em
Solidarity forever,
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Verse 6]
G
In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold,
C G D7
Greater than the might of armies, magnified a thousand-fold.
G B7 Em
We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

[Chorus]
G
Solidarity forever,
C G
Solidarity forever,
G B7 Em
Solidarity forever,
Am D7 G
For the union makes us strong.

Solsbury Hill

By Peter Gabriel

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night

He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
I had to listen, had no choice

I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going "Boom-boom-boom"
"Son, " he said
"Grab your things, I've come to take you home"
Hey, back home

To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut

So I went from day to day
Though my life was in a rut
'Til I thought of what I'd say
Which connection I should cut

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going "Boom-boom-boom"
"Hey, " he said
"Grab your things, I've come to take you home"
Hey, back home

When illusion spin her net
I'm never where I wanna be
And liberty, she pirouette
When I think that I am free

Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me

Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going "Boom-boom-boom"
"Hey, " I said
"You can keep my things, they've come to take me home"

Song of Mourning for the Passenger Pigeon

By Grayson Harlow

I mourn the dead, forgotten birds,

The songs I’ll never hear

Whatever happened to them

Among these passing years?

Though once the skies were darkened

With the beating of their wings

Outside the sun is shining,

And I cannot hear a thing

The meadows seem so empty

The trees unburdened stay

No longer do the feathers green

Adorn the boughs in May

No longer do their ancient songs

Ring out among the trees,

Each note, to time, forgotten

Upon the summer breeze

What of all those lost memories,

The dead of ages past

Where shall their unsung prayers go?

Are any dreams to last?

Will every poem and song fade

That wasn’t inked in pen?

And even those recorded

Shall turn to dust again

Is any song eternal?

Does any story keep?

Do these pages lose their meaning

When the author drifts to sleep?

This moment lost in dreaming

Shall be my solemn vow

To listen to the songbirds

That sing and live for now

The Gardener

By The Tallest Man on Earth

G Em C
I sense a runner in the garden
D
Although my judgement's known to fail
G Em C
Once built a steamboat in a meadow
D
Cos I'd forgotten how to sail

C D G
I know the runner's going to tell you
C D G
There ain't no cowboy in my hair
C D G
So now he's buried by the daisies
C D G
So I could stay the tallest man in your eyes, babe

G Em C
I sense a spy up in the chimney
D
From all the evidence I've burned
G Em C
I guess he'll read it in the smoke now
D
And soon to ashes I'll return

C D G
I know the spy is going to tell you
C D G
It's not my flag up in the pole
C D G
So now he's buried by the lilies
C D G
So I could stay forever more in your eyes, babe

G Em C
I sense a leak inside my phone now
D
From all the lies I have told
G Em C
I know he has your private number
D
And soon he'll make that vicious call

C D G
I know the leak is going to tell you
C D G
There ain't no puppy in your leash
C D G
So now he'll fertilize the roses
C D G
So I could stay the king you see

G C
In your eyes, babe
G C
In your eyes, babe

G Em C
So now we're dancing through the garden
D
And what a garden I have made
G Em C
And now that death will grow my jasmine
D
I find it soothing I'm afraid

C D G
Now there is no need for suspicion
C D G
There ain't no fraud kissing your hand
C D G
I won't be lying when I tell you
C D G
That I'm a gardener, I'm a man

G Em C D
In your eyes, babe
G Em C D
In your eyes, babe
G Em C Em
In your eyes, babe

The Weaver

By Grayson Harlow

The Weaver (Half-Sick of Shadows)

Five in the morning and the sun is at the door

The night of weaving past, I don’t sleep anymore

Though I’m weary and my bones do creak and moan

Half-sick of shadows and reflections of the woods

A life of echoes I would leave it if I could

But since the locks are cast in iron and in bone

This tapestry of flowers I have sewn

And so shall my heart ache forevermore,

As my body turns to ashes and my feet crumble to stone

And let my earthen mound collapse beneath

The ancient tangles of the trees whose roots shall thirst eternally

A shining man at arms does gallop cross the vale

He holds aloft a lance beneath the moonlight pale,

Though he is but stitches on a woolen field

And yet I weave before him stars and stags and trees

Rivers, meadows full of flowers and of bees

Though these things, from me, shall be forever sealed

Silent needles, silver thimbles, all I wield

Blades of grass, drops of dew between my toes,

Cold creek water round my waist weighs down my clothes,

As the dragonflies all dart along the stream

The dance of fireflies, the passing of the rain

The rising of the moon, the worlds our hearts contain,

The songs forever lost within midsummer’s gleam

The moments of our lives shall pass eternally

From this curse of days are any of us free?

Or shall we ever rise, forsake these solemn dreams?

As our tapestries all wear about the seams

And so shall my heart dance forevermore,

As my body turns to flowers in the meadows we have sown

And let the leaves fall silent over me

Among the tangles of the trees whose children live eternally

They're here, and they're there, and they're everywhere
D G D A
They're here, and they're there, and they're everywhere
D G A D
They're here, and they're there, and they're everywhere

[Verse 1]
D G
We're taught that after the war
D A
the nazis vanished without a trace
D G
but batallions of fascists
A D
still dream of a master race
D G
The history books they tell of
D A
their defeat in '45
D G
why did they all come out of the woodwork
A D
on the day the nazi died

[Verse 2]
D G
They say the prisoner of Spandau
D A
was a symbol of defeat
D G
whilst Hess remained imprisoned
A D
then the fascists they were beat
D G D A
so the promise of an aryan world would never materialize
D G
so why did they all come out of the woodwork
A D
on the day the nazi died

[Refrain]

They're here, and they're there, and they're everywhere

They're here, and they're there, and they're everywhere
D G A D
They're here, and they're there, and they're everywhere

[Verse 3]
D G
the world is riddled with maggots
D A
the maggots are getting fat
D G
they're making a tasty meal
A D
of all the bosses and bureacrats
D G
they're taking over the board rooms
D A
and they're fat and full of pride
D G
and they all came out of the woodwork
A D
on the day the nazi died

[Verse 4]
D G
so if you meet with these historians
D A
I'll tell you what to say
D G A D
tell them that the nazis never really went away
D G
they're out there burning houses down
D A
and peddling racist lies

and we'll never rest again
